Stainless Steel

The stainless steel in the Natural collection is both polished and brushed; both processes give a look that can be nicely combined with other natural materials. The pieces of stainless steel are first brought into the desired shape and then polished or brushed. Polishing creates a ‘reflective’ effect. When brushed, a robust look is created because the material is slightly sanded.

Eggshell

For this inlay, white duck eggs are used. The eggshells are cleaned and arranged in a pan. They are then burned over a fire. By varying the length of time they are burned, different shades of colour are created, ranging from light mocha to deep chocolate brown. The broken and fragmented eggshells are glued one by one and then several layers of varnish are applied to fill the open spaces. Finally, the whole is finished with a purified bee wax that is polished to a high-gloss finish.
